It all started with a motorbike sitting idle in a neighbor’s yard. After a bit of friendly pestering, he finally agreed to sell it to me — and from the very first ride, I was hooked.
I started riding all over Rwanda, and every time friends or family came to visit, I’d buy another bike so we could explore together. The freedom of two wheels and the beauty of the Rwandan countryside turned into something I just couldn’t get enough of.
Eventually, the collection of bikes got a bit out of hand (at least according to my wife), so I decided to turn my passion into something more — and that’s how Kigali Motorbike Rental Ltd. was born, which is now part of the iRide Africa network.
At the heart of iRideKigali is a desire to build a financially independent African business that creates jobs in East Africa and shares our love of travel, the outdoors, and the thrill of motorcycle riding. After nearly a decade in business, we continue to move the needle in motorcycle tourism and light logistics in Kigali and across East Africa.
We believe in practical innovation—meeting real rider needs while staying grounded in market realities. We hire and train Rwandans, partner with local suppliers, and blend modern management with a distinctly local touch.
Ultimately, we strive to deliver excellent, reliable service that lets people from around the world safely enjoy the wonders of Kigali and Rwanda, connect across East Africa, and—who knows—maybe even further.
Meet Dominik, a Swiss adventurer, entrepreneur, and aviation enthusiast with a deep love for Rwanda.
After living mostly in Switzerland but also with long work stops in England and Southeast Asia, Dominik first arrived in Kigali as an airline pilot in 2015, planning to stay for only three months. But the country’s beauty and energy captured him, and Rwanda has been home ever since.
In 2016, driven by his passion for exploration and a lack of rental options, he began what would later officially become Kigali Motorbike Rental Ltd. in 2019. Together with his family, he built Kigali Motorbike Rental from a few bikes shared with friends into Rwanda’s leading motorbike rental service—now recently strengthened through a partnership with iRide Africa—helping visitors and locals alike discover the “Land of a Thousand Hills.”
Meet Naomie, the heart of Kigali Motorbike Rental.
Naomie stepped in as General Manager when the company grew too big for one person alone. For her, Kigali Motorbike Rental is like a child she has helped raise—building up the brand from scratch, offering something that didn’t exist in Rwanda before, and watching it grow into maturity.
Unique, creative, and full of energy, Naomie has a gift for storytelling and connecting with people. She laughs easily, captures those around her, and brings warmth to every rider’s experience.
Alongside the motorbike rentals, she also runs her own gift and souvenir shops, Création Hodel, showing her passion and business flair. She built her own path, balancing entrepreneurship with family life, and proving that flexibility and ambition can go hand in hand.
Together with Dominik, Naomie leads Kigali Motorbike Rental as a true family business—now strengthened through a new partnership with iRide Africa. What started as a shared love for adventure has grown into a thriving company that welcomes riders from all over the world to discover Rwanda.
