Excluded:
Trade city noise for ridgelines, lake breezes, and fresh grilled tilapia at the Fish Pub on Lake Muhazi. We roll out of Kigali and climb through eucalyptus forests and terraced hills before dropping to the water’s edge—an easygoing day ride with big views and plenty of photo stops.
Choose your flavour of adventure: a city-leaning route (~70% tarmac) that sticks mostly to smooth tarmac, or a backroads-leaning route (~30% tarmac) that adds non-asphalt mountain sections for extra fun. Whichever you pick, the final ~10 km are off-road, on mellow laterite/gravel suitable for most riders.
Bikes: it’s doable on 110cc semi-automatics, but you’ll be happiest on a Boxer X150, Haojin Hawk II, or Cyclone RX1 for their stability and comfort on mixed surfaces. Helmets are mandatory for rider and passenger; we time the loop to avoid night riding.

Trade city traffic for ridge lines, red clay, and lake breezes on our signature off-road run from Kigali to Lake Muhazi. We warm up over the mountains on a mix of flowing tarmac and laterite farm tracks, then drop to the water for a long, lazy lakeside lunch. Afternoon riding hugs quiet shore roads and playful ridge trails before we roll into Palm Beach Resort—a simple, truly beautiful hideaway right on the lake. Sunset swims, cold drinks, and a starry night seal the deal.
Day two starts with breakfast on the shore, then a full loop around Lake Muhazi: eucalyptus backroads, small villages, and sweeping viewpoints you won’t find on any map. We pause for lunch at another scenic lakeside spot, then ride the highland twisties back to Kigali in golden afternoon light.
This is an intermediate to advanced off-road experience, tailored to the group and the season—expect 40–60% unpaved (laterite/gravel, ruts, rocky descents, and short sandy patches) with plenty of flow and photo stops. It’s possible on 110cc semi-automatics, but you’ll be happiest on a Boxer X150, Haojin Hawk II, or Cyclone RX1 for extra stability and comfort.
